Fleetwood Country Cruize In – Canada’s Largest Outdoor Car Show June 3, 4, & 5, 2011

The snow and winter is still hanging in strong here and it’s the end of March.  Does that surprise you?  After all it’s Canada Eh!!!!  After a long break and holiday from working on this website, time has come to get going and get with it.  There have been many hot rod distractions since my last post in December, but the recent taste of spring did get the juices flowing again.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature wanted to give us one more blast of winter.  I even considered getting the Corvette convertible out a few weeks ago when the temperatures were nicely over 10 degrees centigrade.  That idea was squashed quickly with a spring time snow storm.  One thing I know for sure, it will get warm soon and the summer outdoor car shows will start up again.

One of the nicest outdoor car shows in this area and I believe it to be Canada’s Largest Outdoor Car Show, will be the annual Fleetwood Country Cruize In at the Steve Plunkett estate in London, Ontario.   The estate is located at 9282 Elviage Dr. London, Ontario.  For more information on any aspect of the show please call Steve Plunkett at:  519-672-1967.  This year the show will be on June 3, 4, & 5 2011.

An exciting change this year is that the car show will be on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday evening there will be a dance and show with the Beach Boys.

The gates will open at 7am Saturday morning.  Saturday will be a busy day.  Street Rodder Magazine will have a road tour destination, an appearance by George Barris the “King of Kustomizers”, and American Graffiti stars, Bo Hopkins and Candy Clark.  There will also be the Square Dancing Tractors by “Team Farmall” and the famous Amphi-Cars.  As usual, there will be many classics, hot rods, customs, and many unique vehicles to see.

You will also be treated to a Happy Days star reunion with Marion Ross, Erin Moran, Anson Williams, and Donny Most.  Saturday evening there will be a dinner and dance featuring 70’s rock group Lighthouse.

Sunday the car show continues from 7am till 3pm.

Last year I did a walking tour with the video recorder of the Fleetwood Country Cruize In.  This was completed in four parts.  If you did not make it to the show or are considering coming for the first time, view the videos just to get an idea of what to expect.  Truly a spectacular show and only 15 minutes drive from the home of http://1929fordhotrod.com .  I am looking forward to seeing everyone there.  As usual, I will be there with the video camera to record the event.

Part 1 of 4:  Driving into the Steve Plunkett estate and onto Steve’s personal golf course.  We did have a bit of wet weather prior to the show resulting in a few wet spots.  The walking tour begins.

Part 2 of 4:  The walking tour continues.

Part 3 of 4: The walking tour continues.

Part 4 of 4:  The walking tour ended and we are leaving the show and grounds.  The end of another great outdoor car show at the Fleetwood Estate, and the Gods were nice to us for the day, no rain, just sunny skies.

Bothwell 2010 Car Show – August 6 & 7, 2010

Bothwell 2010 Car Show and Swap meet / flea market - August 6 & 7, 2010

The Bothwell car show and swap meet / flea market is a good event to attend.  It is in the small Southwestern Ontario town of Bothwell in Victoria Park.  I have attended this event many times in the past years.  Bothwell is about 50 kilometers or approximately a 1 hour drive from my house.  This would be similar  to the Waterdown, Ontario car show and swap meet.  There is always a wide variety of vendors selling all kinds of goods, and a good selection of cars to view.

To view the poster for this event go to the following Old Autos home page:  http://www.oldautos.ca .

Bothwell is also the home of the Old Autos newspaper a Canadian publication devoted to car enthusiasts.  The link to the Old Autos newspaper is:  http://www.oldautos.ca/ .

Vendors will be selling on August 6 & 7, 2010.  I have found many good deals there in the past.  Vendors must pre-register by calling:  519-354-2442 .

The car show will be only on August 7, 2010.  The theme this year is trucks and larger trucks 30 years or older.  These vehicles will get in for free this year.  There is still time to pre-register your vehicle by sending an email to:   bothwellcarshow@gmail.com .

Gates open at 8 am on both days.

There will be a free gift and wooden plaque to the first 1000 vehicles.  All vehicles will register at the gate for $10.

If all goes well, I will have my 1987 Corvette convertible there.  Today I was just finishing up with re-installing most of the parts back on the motor.  Tomorrow there will be the finishing touches and I will start the car.  If everything goes well, then a good cleaning will be in order to get ready for the car show this weekend.  Wish me luck. In any case I will be bringing my video camera to shoot some video and take a few pictures. I will post these on my blog next week.
