Waterdown Ontario Swap Meet & Car Show September 24th & 25th 2010

Soon it will start to get cold outside and the snow will fly here. This is one of the joys of living in a northern climate and having very distinctive change of seasons. Throughout the late fall, winter, and early spring, work in the shop will become more intense and regular. In general, summertime activities tend to become a good distraction from car building or working in the shop. Attending summertime car events is a chance to chat with other car builders or enthusiasts. Ideas can be exchanged and possibly a new friendship is established. I find by the time summer is over, I am ready to work on the car with great amount of vigour with fresh number of new ideas percolating in my mind.

The Waterdown Ontario Swap Meet & Car Show is always a great event to attend. This fall the car show and swap meet will be on September 24th & 25th 2010. The swap meet and car show is located at: Joe Sams’ Park, 752 Center Road, Waterdown, Ontario.

The link for more information on this event is:  http://www.waterdownswapmeet.com/ .
Let’s hope the weather will be good for this outdoor event. In the past, there have been well over 1000 cars on display and numerous vendors selling just about anything.

Below are a few videos of the event we attended just last spring. This will give you an idea of what to expect if you can go. You will not be disappointed if you are close enough to attend.

The first one shows me and my friend Jim driving his 37 Chev, arriving at the fair grounds and getting parked.

The second video shows clips of the swap meet and car show. In the past there has been well over 1000 cars on display in the outdoor field. This is an event that should be considered and attended. Enjoy. Just click on the thumbnail to start watching the video.

Bothwell 2010 Car Show – August 6 & 7, 2010

Bothwell 2010 Car Show and Swap meet / flea market - August 6 & 7, 2010

The Bothwell car show and swap meet / flea market is a good event to attend.  It is in the small Southwestern Ontario town of Bothwell in Victoria Park.  I have attended this event many times in the past years.  Bothwell is about 50 kilometers or approximately a 1 hour drive from my house.  This would be similar  to the Waterdown, Ontario car show and swap meet.  There is always a wide variety of vendors selling all kinds of goods, and a good selection of cars to view.

To view the poster for this event go to the following Old Autos home page:  http://www.oldautos.ca .

Bothwell is also the home of the Old Autos newspaper a Canadian publication devoted to car enthusiasts.  The link to the Old Autos newspaper is:  http://www.oldautos.ca/ .

Vendors will be selling on August 6 & 7, 2010.  I have found many good deals there in the past.  Vendors must pre-register by calling:  519-354-2442 .

The car show will be only on August 7, 2010.  The theme this year is trucks and larger trucks 30 years or older.  These vehicles will get in for free this year.  There is still time to pre-register your vehicle by sending an email to:   bothwellcarshow@gmail.com .

Gates open at 8 am on both days.

There will be a free gift and wooden plaque to the first 1000 vehicles.  All vehicles will register at the gate for $10.

If all goes well, I will have my 1987 Corvette convertible there.  Today I was just finishing up with re-installing most of the parts back on the motor.  Tomorrow there will be the finishing touches and I will start the car.  If everything goes well, then a good cleaning will be in order to get ready for the car show this weekend.  Wish me luck. In any case I will be bringing my video camera to shoot some video and take a few pictures. I will post these on my blog next week.
